Sinclair Tech Prep Showcase
Showcase planning is entering the final lap before “Showtime” on April 29th. Teams should arrive between 8:15 and 9:00 a.m. and enter Building 12 from the horseshoe drive off of Perry Street. School administrators, parents and friends are encouraged to visit this Capstone Experience and support the students’ outstanding projects. This year, 103 teams have entered the competition which sets a new record. The project titles are quite enticing and the creativity, problem solving and skill development will be the subject of 70 professional judges representing their world of work. Due to budget restraints, trophies for individual Championship and Runners Up will be delivered to the schools instead of at the Championship banquet, which has been cancelled.

Senior Criminal Science Culminating Experience
On April 14th 18 year old senior Criminal Science pathway students experienced an interesting tour of the Lebanon Correctional Institution. The Tech Prep students experienced various aspects of the prison environment first hand. Corrections is one avenue of work for this pathway as well as the close connection to Law Enforcement. The Sinclair Criminal Justice Department serves as our partner and co-host in this unique opportunity.
Jr. Biotechnology Field Experience
On April 13th 90 eleventh grade Biotechnology Pathway students met for the first time as group to participate in a planned field experience at Cox Arboretum. The Tech Prep Biotechnology Instructors led by Rachel Sanders (Springfield High School) integrated school project teams through a problem solving exercise revolving around water testing of various ponds on the Arboretum grounds. TECH PREP PROFILE: BRITTANY KRUSE, DIGITAL MEDIA, WARREN CO. CAREER CENTER
I am so glad that I tried the Digital Media Arts class. It really opened up a new world of possibilities for me. I learned new graphics programs a designer would use in the field and techniques to improve my work. Through the Tech Prep program, I received a $3000 scholarship to Sinclair and a great job at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. I had the privilege of attending such events as Women in IT and the Miami Valley Tech Prep Showcase, opportunities I would have missed before. Without Tech Prep I wouldn’t be as focused as I am, and I would be without the knowledge and experience I have today.
Now that I’m at Sinclair, I’m taking courses that will help me achieve my goal of becoming a successful graphic designer. It was easier starting college on a campus that I’d become more familiar with through the trips I’d taken to attend the events held here.
