MVTPC SETS ANOTHER ENROLLMENT RECORD!
The fall enrollment figures are all in and finalized and the news is very good indeed. The combined Tech Prep junior and senior enrollments total 3,675 for the 2008-09 academic year. This is a 7.5% increase over last year. The fall 2008 14th day headcount at Sinclair has been set at 1,470 and is an incredible 17.62% jump from this time last year! Let's all give our partners a round of applause.

DECEMBER 12, 2008 DEADLINE: ON-LINE REGISTRATION FOR TECH PREP PROFICIENCY TESTING
Please note, the last day to go on-line and have your Tech Prep classes sign up for 2008-09 proficiency testing is December 12th at 5:00 p.m. The registration web site can be found here. If you need assistance signing up, please contact your pathway manager or Brandon Evans.

DTMA REGIONAL BOTS COMPETITION A GREAT SUCCESS!
Forty-six teams from 14 area high schools and career centers competed in DTMA’s 4th Bi-annual Bots Competition at the Advanced Manufacturing & Technology Show on October 23. Six of our Tech Prep engineering programs entered robots: Centerville, Dayton Patterson, Kettering Fairmont, Miami Valley CTC, Stebbins, and Xenia. Dan Stacy’s Centerville HS teams walked away with the most awards: 1st place, Best Engineered, Best Documentation, and Coolest Robot. Kettering Fairmont HS won 3rd place in the competition.

STATEWIDE 'WE ARE IT' DAY
Sinclair Community College hosted the 3rd annual We are IT day on November 21, 2008. Over 230 Ninth and Tenth grade girls demonstrated an interest in the Information Technology field. We are IT participants could choose to attend two of 12 breakout sessions on topics like Design Your Diva Dorm, Girlz Dezign IT, Google Girl Power, Make a Splash with Flash, and Morphing Madness. The girls also got the opportunity to dine with “Lunch Buddies” mentors, more than 50 women who work in IT related positions including some at local IT companies. The event was co-sponsored by Teradata, The Digital Cowboy, Miami Valley Tech Prep Consortium and IT@Sinclair. For more information go to the website at www.weareitatscc.com
