Don’t forget to sign up for the Showcase. It’s a great opportunity for your students to work through a problem as a team and to demonstrate their results. Plus you just might win! But you can’t win if you don’t sign up here… the deadline is Friday, March 9th.
We hope to see a team from every program on Thursday, April 19th.

TECH PREP ORIENTATION DAYS-Information Technology
January 27th - February 3rd
The annual series of Tech Prep “Junior Orientation Days” provides an opportunity for high school juniors (already enrolled in an IT Tech Prep Program) to see first hand the college connection to Tech Prep pathways. Students will visit Tech Prep labs and participate in "hands on" activities with college professors, tour the Sinclair campus and have lunch in the Tartan Cafe. A question and answer session with college and Tech Prep representatives wraps up the on-campus experience.
The IT event will begin in the gym (building 8) as we've done in the past. We will then have two hands-on sessions for students from each of our degree programs (Cisco, MCSE, Security, Programming, User Support, Web Development).
Please reserve Friday, January 27 or Friday, February 3, 2012 to participate in the IT Tech Prep Junior Orientation Days.

Centerville Career Pathway Exploration Day
On December 14, 2011, over 270 middle school students from Centerville (Watts Middle School) came to Sinclair Community College for a career exploration day. Students and chaperones were welcomed by Tech Prep Director Terry Riley followed by brief presentations from Sinclair's Head Basketball Coach, Jeff Price; Admissions Counselor. Gary Chance; and, Steve Dintaman, Head Basketball Coach
Following the introductory events, students were divided into career-specific groups based upon personal interests and professional assessments and participated in career/program activities sponsored by numerous department faculty and staff. All students were treated to a compass tour and lunch provided by Admissions .
Proficiency Test Sign up
Tim Bryant, the Data Management Technician with Tech Prep, has extended the proficiency test sign up process through Survey Monkey. This sign-up is for the Winter and Spring sessions only.

Energy Management Meeting
The Miami Valley Tech Prep Consortium and Sinclair Community College would like to invite you to an organizational meeting on February 2nd from 8:30am to 11:00am in the Library, Building 7-L21 (the glass house under the stairs), to consider a partnership in energy management.
The purpose of the meeting is to develop a 2+2+2 energy management pathway from high school to community college to university with multiple exit points to employment. High school students will be exposed to energy management concepts in high school STEM classes; and, engaged in interactive, hands-on modules in areas of energy efficiency, conservation and residential energy assessment.
High school students will also have the opportunity to earn college credit by enrolling in community college energy management courses. Project partners will create turnkey modules for high school STEM classes and provide professional development for high school teachers to familiarize them with the material.
Sinclair would like to invite you to participate. Please check your calendar and see if you can join us for this special NSF ATE: Energy Education Initiative for High School & Community College event.
