Allied Health

Degree programs can lead to careers in such fields as Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Dietetics & Nutritional Management, Health Information management, Medical Assisting, Mental Health Technology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Radiological Technology, Respiratory Care and Surgical Technology.

Automotive Technology

Entry-level positions for automotive service technicians are available in dealerships, independent garages, service stations, and automotive machine shops. In addition, graduates are also employed as sales representatives for parts manufacturers and distributors, as claims adjusters for insurance companies, and as automotive service instructors. Graduates with practical experience, education, a willingness to work, and a high degree of professionalism may expect to move into management positions.

Biotechnology Lab Technology

Graduates from the Applied Science Associate degree program in Biotechnology can seek employment with biomedical and bioagriculture companies, biopharmaceutical (including other bio-related fields as a laboratory technician trained in lab protocols, laboratory safety and regulations, and hand-on biotech techniques). Transferable laboratory skills also enable the graduate to seek opportunities in various medical laboratory positions. These positions require knowledge and hands-on precise laboratory skills that utilize technical equipment, measurement and data gathering abilities.

Business Technology

Degree programs can lead into careers in such fields as Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, Hospitality Management, Law and Legal Assisting, Management, Marketing, and Office Information Systems.

Criminal Science

Multiple career opportunities are available through federal, state, local and private agencies in a variety of cluster careers such as environmental, emergency management, transportation and corporate security. Careers such as police officer, deputy sheriff, highway patrol, corrections officer, metro parks, FBI, ATF, drug enforcement, forensic science and the US Military, all serve to provide public safety under the umbrella of Homeland Security.

Electronic & Computer Technology

Employment opportunities for electronics technicians are available as electronics service and maintenance technicians, or as computer field service technicians.

The Sinclair Community College program also transfers to four year Bachelor of Science EET program.

Engineering Cluster

Design technicians may work in many areas including product design and development and manufacturing and production for organizations ranging from large national corporations to small local shops. The need for technicians with CAD skills has exploded as companies take on this new technology.

Employment opportunities for entry level technicians and engineering designers are available with large and small engineering and design firms, manufacturing corporations, and tool shops.

Graduates of Sinclair's Civil Engineering Technology program find jobs as designers, managers, contractors, drafters, surveyors, and estimators for government agencies, consulting firms, building and design organizations, and contractors. Civil engineering technicians can find employment with state and local government agencies, the U.S. Department of Defense, and other federal government agencies. In addition, careers are available with firms specializing in testing services.

Environmental Technology

This is an excellent career field for both men and women who are looking for nontraditional roles and challenging hands-on occupations. Graduates from this track can find employment opportunities available around the world. People involved in this field are qualified to perform a variety of job functions including:

  • Conduct site assessments, environmental compliance studies, air pollution analysis and pollution prevention assessments.
  • Comply with environmental, safety and health regulations.
  • Evaluate conditions in the workplace by interpreting material safety data sheets, and evaluating data from sample results.
  • Use personal protective equipment, decontamination equipment, and instruments.
  • Calibrate instruments.
  • Handle hazards: respond to hazardous chemical spills adn prepare hazardous wastes for transportation.
  • Provide technical interpretations.
  • Collect environmental samples for analysis.
  • Interact with personnel by relaying policies, guiding subcontractors, participating in community relations activities, and interacting with regulators.

Interactive Media Technology

Graduates from this program can work in a variety of creative fields including graphic design, photography, video production, interactive design, and web design.

Information Technology

The Computer Information Systems program at Sinclair Community College can prepare you for a career in the growing area of computer programming. You will acquire applied technical knowledge along with training in management, accounting and developing structured programs for business applications using computer languages such COBOL, "C", "C++", and Visual Basic

Industrial Engineering Technology

Graduates of this program can seek employment as manufacturing technologists, supervisors and team leaders, planners, methods specialists, and I.E. technicians. Career opportunities have been plentiful for graduates, with over 95% working within their career field.
