Lesson 4: High School Options
Mapping Your Trip
Optional Activity 2
– High School Extras
Many students participate in extracurricular activities, hold
a job, volunteer in the community or have parents/friends who
are career role models. In this part of the lesson, select two
areas in which you participate and decide how those activities
might lead to a career choice. If you don't currently participate
in any of these activities, choose two you would like to participate
in or think you could learn something from.
- Choose two of the areas listed below and complete
the assignment. You'll need your journal to finish this
part of the lesson. Here is a sample of the assignment.
- Extracurricular activities (sports, music, theater, student
government, clubs etc.)
- Volunteer work
- Job
- Family/friend role model
- Write in your Career
Journal about the possible careers you could explore based
on what you've learned. You may add another section if you're
interested in exploring more than two areas. If you don't participate
in an activity, don't have a job or don't volunteer yet, what
plans can you make to add one of these activities to your career
research? Go to the Career
Journal Rubric to see how you'll be graded for this assignment.
