TIES Curriculum Module
Title: Terrorism: What Is It and How Can I Be Prepared for It?
Teachers: Reynolds
Business: Wright-Patterson AFB
Description: This is a week long study geared toward upper elementary students (grades 4-6). The subject matter may prove to be somewhat disturbing, but it is a topic that cannot be ignored. A basic knowledge of terrorism is essential for everyone living in the United States at this point in history. It is absolutely critical for employees at Wright Patterson Airforce Base (WPAFB), where this curriculum was developed. WPAFB is the third largest U.S. airforce base in the world, and therefore a major military target. All people living in Dayton, Ohio are at risk due to their close proximity to the base. This study in terrorism preparedness will provide students with a greater level of psychological comfort as they develop a better understanding of what terrorism is; in addition to providing them with a knowledge that may one day save their lives.
