Title: Investigating Wastewater

Description: Clean water is often taken for granted. This unit will make students think twice about what happens to the water they use every day. This unit was developed after working with the Metropolitan Sewer District in the Division of Industrial Waste. It takes a look at the environmental problems that some industries cause to the water as well as how wastewater is cleaned and treated. The unit incorporates chemical principles, earth science, and biology in the context of environmental science. The unit is aimed at grades 7-10 and is estimated to take approximately 5-6 hours to complete.
