TIES Curriculum Module
Title: Lifestyles of the Shakers THEN and NOW

Description: This activity about the Shaker's Lifestyles "Then and Now" is best used by a team of teachers that share the same students. However, the different parts of this project can be used independently to offer some insight into the impact the Shaker's have had on American society. Students will be examining the lifestyles of the Shaker society through a wide range of sources such as, the novel A Day No Pigs Would Die, by Robert Newton Peck, field trips to Warren County historical Museum and Tom Isaacs Woodworking shop, computer research, hands on training by the American Red Cross, and interviews and guest lectures from the Tom Isaac Shaker woodworking shop.
