Description: In the past 25 years, the American homeless population has increased tremendously in numbers. The most current estimate is that at least 500,000 people were homeless in 2005. Twenty five years ago, our stereotype of homelessness was a Caucasian male; today the face of a homeless person is much different, i.e.: there is no stereotype or typical homeless person. There are shelters and programs that assisting and providing services and shelter for the homeless, but each one has specific rules, regulations, funding sources, and vision/scopes.
