TIES Curriculum Module
Title: Lights, Camera, Poverty
Teachers: Gearon, Holzberg
Business: Community Action Partnership
Description: Poverty exists across the world as one of the most engaging problems that will impact citizens of the United States as we move toward a global economy. Moreover, examining the problem of poverty locally will assist students in understanding how this issue affects them. Community Action Patnership, located at 719 S. Main Street Dayton , serves the homeless and many other low-income residents of the city. Within its lobby, C.A.P. has a power-point slide presentation that highlights many of its programs. The problem is that words and slides do not draw attention to many beneficial programs that are available. By creating a visual representation using video and pictures, it is hoped that many clients will take advantage of lesser known programs. C.A.P. wishes that by utilizing these programs and getting involved in them, citizens will gain a pathway out of poverty.
