Miami Valley TechPrep Consortium

Junior Career Exploration Day

Junior Career Exploration Days will begin in September. These events are a great benefit of being a Tech Prep student and teacher. Career Exploration Days are designed to help students discover first-hand some of the skills, interests, and aptitudes needed for specific career pathways and learn the advantages of being partnered with Sinclair Community College through their high school Tech Prep Program.

Generally, students participating in a Career Exploration Day will begin their visit to Sinclair with a welcome from the Tech Prep staff. Students will then engage in a variety of activities designed to help them discover their personal preferences regarding their career pathway, and give them the confidence they need to enter the college program at Sinclair or at another college or university. Typical activities for the day may include:

  • A college tour
  • Participation in a college class or lab
  • Meet and greet with college professors and counselors
  • Motivational and/or informative speakers about pathway opportunities
  • Career information on the specific pathway such as job outlook, salary and degree/certificate requirements
