The Sinclair Tech Prep Scholarship recognizes merit and provides financial support for students pursuing a certificate or associate degree at Sinclair College.

How to Qualify
Application
Have a completed Sinclair Tech Prep application on file.
GPA Requirement
Earn a cumulative HS GPA of 2.25 during Junior year and 1st semester Senior year.
CTE Coursework
Complete 3+ CTE courses (or 2 in a single pathway) and graduate from high school.
FAFSA Submission
Complete the FAFSA annually. Other aid must be used prior to Tech Prep funds.
Full Enrollment
Register for 12+ credit hours for full award ($750). 9–11 hours is pro-rated at $563.
Good Standing
Maintain "Good Academic Standing" at Sinclair (cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher).
Activation & Usage Rules
- Activation Deadline: You must register for classes no later than the fall deadline one year following your high school graduation to activate your scholarship. Example: A 2024 graduate may register for classes in Fall 2024, Spring 2025, or Fall 2025.
- Usage Window: Once enrolled, you may use the scholarship for up to three years after high school graduation.
- Award Order: Funds apply to remaining tuition and fees after Pell Grants and other scholarships are applied.
- Book Purchases: Leftover funds may be used for books only during official Financial Aid purchase dates at the Sinclair Campus Bookstore.
Common Questions
Can I receive the scholarship if I need developmental courses?
Answer: The scholarship will NOT pay for developmental coursework, but it will pay for courses toward your degree or certificate. You can pay for developmental courses while simultaneously taking other courses that the scholarship covers.
What degrees and certificates can I pursue?
Answer: Students may pursue any degree or certificate program at Sinclair! View the complete list of programs here.
When do I have to begin to be eligible?
Answer: You must register for classes no later than the end of the fall registration deadline one year following your high school graduation.
I am joining the military. May I use the scholarship later?
Answer: Yes. As long as you are on full-time active duty, you may defer the scholarship until one year after your active duty is completed.
Why does my scholarship show as "ineligible" on my account?
Answer: Like many forms of Financial Aid, the Tech Prep Scholarship will apply to your account up to 10 days prior to the start of the term, but not sooner.
